As a KCOM user, you might have wanted to change your network name and wireless password, or make some other changes in the router settings. The good thing is that you can actually do this on your own, but you have to learn the KCOM router login steps first.
In this article we are going to explain how to login to your KCOM router (Technicolor or Zyxel) using a computer or a smartphone and the default KCOM login details.
So, let’s start!
CONTENTS
What You Need:
Although the KCOM router login is simple and straightforward you need to make sure about the following before you try to access the router settings.
1. Get a device to connect to the network and access your KCOM router settings.
2. Connect that device to the network.
3. Have the KCOM admin login details (router IP address, username and password) ready.
What Are The Default KCOM Router Details?
If you are using a Technicolor router issued by KCOM the admin login details are:
- Default router IP: 192.168.1.1
- Default admin username: admin
- Default admin password: admin or the access key that is printed on the label under the router.
If you are using a Zyxel router issued by KCOM the admin login details are:
- Default router IP: 192.168.1.1
- Default admin username: admin
- Default admin password: 1234
You can also check the label under the router. It should have all the default login details printed on it so you can use them when you want to access the KCOM router settings. The default login details come pretty handy if you have to reset the router to factory defaults.
How To Login To KCOM Router?
The following steps are almost the same for the Technicolor and Zyxel router. There is an extra step for the Technicolor router but we will explain that later.
STEP 1 – The Device Must Be Connected
This step is vital and without it you won’t be able to login to your KCOM router. You can choose whether you want to connect using your wireless connection or use a wired connection. This also depends on the device you are using, but the result will be the same. So, simply connect the device and move to the next step.
STEP 2 – Start Your Web Browser
The router’s admin dashboard (the web-based interface) is usually accessed using a web browser. It is an easy way for the user to access and manage the router settings in an user-friendly environment. Any of the popular browsers used today will be just fine for this, although some manufacturers recommend using Edge and Chrome only.
STEP 3 – Type The KCOM IP Address Into The URL Bar
KCOM routers use the IP address 192.168.1.1 as their default IP. You should type this IP into the browser’s URL bar and press Enter or Go. If the IP is correct, the router login page will appear. But if it doesn’t show up, it is possible that the router is using another IP or that you have typed the IP incorrectly. So, you can retype the IP and check again, or find the IP by following this guide.
STEP 4 – Enter The KCOM Admin Login Details
After you enter the correct IP address you will be asked to type the admin login details.
NOTE: Technicolor router users will have to click on the Sign In button in the top-right of the screen.
If you haven’t changed these login details, you can use the following:
For Technicolor routes the username is admin and the password is also admin, or you can type the access key printed on the label under the router.
For Zyxel routers the username is admin and the password is 1234.
STEP 5 – Start Managing The KCOM Settings
If the admin username and password are correct you should see the KCOM admin dashboard now. But in case, you get a notification that the username or password is incorrect, check whether you have typed them correctly or check the label under the router.
If you have managed to login successfully, now you can configure your KCOM router the way you like. You can customize the wireless settings, secure your network, block unwanted devices from your network, set up Parental Controls to control the time your kids spend online, and you can do much more.
There are plenty of different options your router can offer, but you can check them after you access the router settings. Before making any changes, we recommend either creating a backup of the router configuration, or asking someone for help. At the end, if you don’t backup the settings, you can reset the router to factory settings and start over.
What To Do If You Can’t Login?
Sometimes the login process fails for some reason. The good thing here is that you can actually do something about it. Here are some of the most frequent reasons and recommendations on how to address these issues.
The admin login details don’t work – In this case you have to check whether you have typed them correctly. They are case-sensitive and it is easy to make a mistake. Simply retype them and see what happens. If you can’t login again, check the label on the router or the user’s manual and confirm that the details we have provided are the same as the ones on the label.
Finally, if you know that you or your ISP has changed the login details, and you can’t remember them now, you will have to reset the router to factory defaults. After that you will be able to login with the default username and password.
The IP address doesn’t work – Check whether you have mistyped it. Type it again and see whether the router login page appears. If not, follow this guide to find the router’s IP address.
Security warning in browser – In case your web browser displays a security warning informing you that the connection is not secure, click on Advanced and then click on Proceed to (your router IP address).

But in case there is a problem at some point, we hope that the tips we have provided will help you continue with the login steps.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in network engineering and a master’s degree in computer science and engineering. I’m also a Cisco-certified service provider.
In my professional career, I worked for router/modem manufacturers and internet providers. I like to think that I’m good at explaining network-related issues in simple terms. That’s exactly what I’m doing on this website – I’m making simple and easy-to-follow guides on how to install, set up, and troubleshoot your networking hardware. I also review new network equipment – modems, gateways, switches, routers, extenders, mesh systems, cables, etc.
My goal is to help regular users with their everyday network issues, educate them, and make them less scared of their equipment. In my articles, you can find tips on what to look for when buying new networking hardware, and how to adjust your network settings to get the most out of your wi-fi.
Since my work is closely related to computers, servers, and other network equipment, I like to spend most of my spare time outdoors. When I want to blow off some steam, I like to ride my bike. I also love hiking and swimming. When I need to calm down and clear my mind, my go-to activity is fishing.
