Today more and more people are working from home and children are having online classes. We have witnessed how important it is to have a strong and reliable internet connection in every corner of our home.
Eir (formerly known as Eircom) routers are designed to provide a great wireless signal and we have to make sure that our network is well maintained and secured. And the first step in maintaining and securing our network is learning the Eir router login steps. Once you login successfully, everything is easily accessible and you have the ability to modify all the router settings.
But first, let’s see what you need in order to access the router settings without any issues.
CONTENTS
What You Need:
You are going to need a computer or a mobile device like a smartphone or a tablet. Then you have to connect that device to your network and finally, you need to have the correct Eir router admin username and password.
Once you get everything ready, the rest of the login process is easy to follow.
What Are The Default Eir Router Details?
Default Eir router IP address: 192.168.1.254
Default admin username: admin
Default admin password: Printed on the label on the router. It is usually the same as the WiFi password printed there.
NOTE: If you connect your device directly to the Eir router using a network cable you won’t be asked to enter the default admin username and password.
How To Login To Eir Router?
These are the steps required to access the Eir router settings. Pay attention when you type the router IP, username and password because they are case-sensitive.
STEP 1 – Have You Connected Your Device?
The first and most important thing before you begin is to check whether your device is connected to your network. If it isn’t, you have two options. Either connect it to the wireless network if you know the WiFi password, or use the network cable to connect the device to your Eir router. After you confirm that the device is connected, move to the next step.
STEP 2 – Launch The Web Browser On The Device
The devices we have mentioned before have a browser installed by default and most probably another web browser of your choice. You can practically use any of the popular web browsers today, but the most recommended ones are Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
STEP 3 – Enter The Eir IP Address In The Address Bar
When the browser opens, type the Eir router IP (192.168.1.254) into the browser’s Address bar and press Enter or Go on your keyboard. The Eir router login page should show up.
If the router login page doesn’t show up, you will have to type it again or try to find the correct IP by yourself. We have a detailed guide on how to find the router IP so feel free to read it and follow the steps described there.
STEP 4 – Enter The Eir Router Admin Password
After entering the correct iP address, you should be asked to enter the default password. Type it into the required field carefully and click on Login.
If the admin login details are correct and if you have typed them in correctly, the Eir router home page should appear. Right now, you have full access to all the admin settings.
Since we have mentioned that your network has to be well secured, it is important to change the admin password and the WiFi settings as well. This will make your network more secure from unauthorized access.
Let’s see where you can find these settings and make the necessary changes.
Let’s Change The Eir Router Admin Password
The person who knows the admin password can access the Eir router admin dashboard. If you want to be the only one who can do that, it is necessary to change the default admin password.
NOTE: Changing the admin password won’t change the WiFi password. You will still be able to use the one printed on the sticker on the router.
After you login to your Eir router, click on Maintenance and then on User Account.
Now you have to complete the following fields:
Old Password – type the old password first to confirm that you are the one with admin privileges.
New Password – type the new admin password here.
Retype to Confirm – type the new admin password again to confirm the change you want to make.
Click on the Apply button.
Let’s Change The Eir WiFi Network Name And Password
If you want to change the default WiFi password you need to login to the router first. Then check the home page of the router admin dashboard. Look for Wireless LAN.
Just complete the required fields and you will easily change the WiFi password and the network name.
Just make sure to select WPA2 as encryption since it is the most recommended type these days.
After you save the changes, please keep in mind that you have to connect all your wireless devices again using the new WiFi password.

Final Words
Knowing how to login to your Eir router is something you simply have to know. As you can see, all the steps are easy to follow and you should access the router settings in no time. Making the necessary changes is also simple, but we don’t recommend changing the settings you don’t understand. You can easily make your network unstable or unusable and you will have to reset the router and set it up again if something goes wrong.
And one more thing, if you choose to change the admin password, make sure to write it down and keep it for the next time. In case you forget it, you will have to factory reset the router and login with the default login details.
Hey, I’m David. I’ve been working as a wireless network engineer and a network administrator for 15 years. During my studies, I also worked as an ISP field technician – that’s when I met Jeremy.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in network engineering and a master’s degree in computer science and engineering. I’m also a Cisco-certified service provider.
In my professional career, I worked for router/modem manufacturers and internet providers. I like to think that I’m good at explaining network-related issues in simple terms. That’s exactly what I’m doing on this website – I’m making simple and easy-to-follow guides on how to install, set up, and troubleshoot your networking hardware. I also review new network equipment – modems, gateways, switches, routers, extenders, mesh systems, cables, etc.
My goal is to help regular users with their everyday network issues, educate them, and make them less scared of their equipment. In my articles, you can find tips on what to look for when buying new networking hardware, and how to adjust your network settings to get the most out of your wi-fi.
Since my work is closely related to computers, servers, and other network equipment, I like to spend most of my spare time outdoors. When I want to blow off some steam, I like to ride my bike. I also love hiking and swimming. When I need to calm down and clear my mind, my go-to activity is fishing.
