Having a healthy and well secured wireless network is pretty important these days. However, we share our network details frequently with our friends and visitors and this makes our network vulnerable. In order to make it a little more secure we need to make some changes in the router settings, and in order to do that we need to know the exact Thomson router login steps.

How To Login To Thomson Router?
If you have everything ready, the Thomson router login steps will be pretty easy. You will access the router settings in a minute.
STEP 1 – Connect To The Network
The first and most important thing is to connect your device to the network. It is up to you and the device’s capabilities whether you will connect over WiFi or using an Ethernet cable. However, we have to say that the wired connection is recommended because it is more stable. This doesn’t mean that you should avoid the WiFI connection. You might get logged out or disconnected when you save some settings, but in most cases that’s it.
STEP 2 – Launch Your Preferred Browser
Now launch the web browser you use most often. We need it to access the router’s web-based interface which allows us to manage the router settings from any device in the network. Always make sure that your web browser is not too outdated. Sometimes it may cause some issues while logging in.
STEP 3 – Enter The Thomson Router IP In The Address Bar
The default router IP address is the first thing we will use to access the router stings. You can find it on a label which is generally under the router or modem. If you don’t have this label, the default Thomson router IP address is 192.168.1.254.
If it’s the correct IP you will be asked to enter a username and a password, i.e. the router admin login credentials. If you see an error message or you aren’t asked to enter these details, please check whether 192.168.1.254 is the correct router Default IP, i.e. Default Gateway.

STEP 5 – Check And Modify The Thomson Router Settings
After the successful login you will have access to all the router settings through the admin dashboard. You can tweak the security settings, play with the Parental Controls if you have kids, set up Game & Application sharing and so on.
However, there are two things you need to change as soon as possible. Those are the default admin password and the default WiFi settings.

How To Change The Thomson Admin Password?
If your Thomson router didn’t have an admin password or you have changed it before, it is recommended to set up one right now.
After you login to the router settings, click on Toolbox in the menu on the left. When the menu expands below, click on User Management, and then on Change Password.
A new page will open.
Enter the old password first and then enter the new admin password twice in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields.
Click the Change Password button to save the settings.
How To Change The Thomson WiFi Name And Password?
Changing the default network name and password is also recommended. Think about it as an additional layer of security that will prevent unauthorized access to your network.
After you login to the router, click on Home Network in the left-hand menu. Then click on Interfaces.
Now you should see the LocalNetwork Interfaces. Click on WLAN at the bottom. It should look like this – WLAN: Thomson7BCECC.
Now click on Configure. It is on the top-right of your screen.
In the Network Name (SSID) field enter the new network name.
Scroll down to Encryption and make sure Use WPA-PSK Encryption is selected.
Enter the new wireless password in the WPA-PSK Encryption Key field and make sure that WPA2 is selected from the WPA-PSK Version drop-down list.
Click on the Apply button to save the changes.
NOTE: If you have used a wireless connection to login to your Thomson router, you will be disconnected or logged out when you change and save the admin or WiFi password. If that happens simply connect and login again and continue modifying the router settings.
