So, let’s get ready.

Before You Begin
Before you start following the ACT router login steps described below, there is something you need to take care of first.
You will need a device (computer or smartphone) and you need wired or wireless access to the network. You also need to have the ACT router login details ready and you are good to go.
What Are The Default ACT Router Details?
ACT offers several different routers to their customers and the default admin login details should be:
Default ACT Router IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Default ACT admin username: admin
Default ACT admin password: admin
We strongly recommend checking the user’s manual or the sticker on the router to find the default ACT router login details. Use them if they are different from the ones given here.
Access The ACT Router Admin Dashboard?
Now, after you have prepared everything, it’s time to access the ACT router settings.
STEP 1 – Connect To The Network
First connect your device to the network. If you have the WiFi password, connect to the wireless network. However, if you can connect your device using a wired connection over the network cable, we recommend connecting that way.
This step is crucial because the device needs to be part of the work or home network. In case it isn’t connected to the network you won’t be able to use it to access the router settings.
STEP 2 – Open The Browser On The Device
Now open the browser on your device. You can use Firefox, Safari, Edge, Chrome or any other. The browser will help you access the router’s web-based interface and the best thing is that you don’t have to have an active internet connection.
STEP 3 – Enter The ACT Router IP In The Address Bar
When you open the browser, type the ACT router IP address into the Address bar. Make sure to type it correctly because if you mistype some numbers or you type letters instead of them (l is not the same as 1, o is not the same as 0) you won’t be able to continue.
The default ACT router IP is 192.168.1.1 but if the ACT router login page doesn’t show up, retype the IP first and if the same happens again, check whether 192.168.1.1 is the correct IP.
STEP 4 – Enter The ACT Admin Login Details
After you enter the correct IP address in the Address bar, you will be asked to enter the ACT admin username and password. Type them carefully because they are case-sensitive and press the Login button.
Now, after you enter the correct username and password, you should see the ACT router admin dashboard. This gives you access to all the basic and advanced router settings. This means that you can easily customize the router settings now but it is good to be careful. You can easily make some changes that can make your network stop working properly.
If you want to see what it looks like to change some of the settings, we recommend changing the wireless network password first. You can also change the network name while you are doing that.
How To Change The ACT WiFi Name And Password?
The first change you should make in the settings is the wireless password. You simply have to keep your network safe from unwanted access and the easiest way to do this is to set up a strong wireless password or change the current one. Here is how to do it.
NOTE: There are several different router models ACT offers to their customers so the steps in the following section might be a little different.
1. Login to the ACT router as described above.
2. Click on Wireless in the horizontal menu at the top.
3. Click on SSID on the drop-down menu.
4. In the Configuration section you will see the SSID field. Here you can erase the old wireless network name and type the new one.
5. In the WPA section you can enter the new WiFi password in the Preshared Key field.
6. Click on the Apply button in the top-right of the screen to save the new network name and password.
Now reconnect your device as well as all the other wireless devices you are using. It is recommended to change the wireless password from time to time and now you know how to do it properly.

Final Words
We hope that this article has helped you access your ACT router settings and change the WiFi network name and password. As you can see, there is nothing complicated and all the steps are easy to follow.
However, if you decide to make additional changes, we strongly recommend backing up the current router configuration. It is important to do this just in case. It is easier to revert the router to the previous settings using the backup method, than having to reset the ACT router to factory settings and then setting it up again.

That’s exactly what I’m doing on this website – I’m making simple and easy-to-follow guides on how to install, set up, and troubleshoot your networking hardware. I also review new network equipment – modems, gateways, switches, routers, extenders, mesh systems, cables, etc.
My goal is to help regular users with their everyday network issues, educate them, and make them less scared of their equipment. In my articles, you can find tips on what to look for when buying new networking hardware, and how to adjust your network settings to get the most out of your wi-fi.
