The blinking red LOS light on your PLDT router is always accompanied with no internet connection. Knowing how important the internet has become today and that most people are practically handicapped when there is no internet, it is good to know a thing or two about fixing the issue immediately.

This article will explain what is the meaning of the PLDT router LOS light blinking red, what are the possible causes as well as what you can do to fix it before you get in touch with the tech support.

Why Is My PLDT Router LOS Blinking Red Light?

PLDT Router LOS Blinking Red

LOS stands for Loss Of Signal, and as the name suggests, this light will start blinking or be solid red when a loss of signal occurs.

There are several different reasons why you are seeing the PLDT router LOS light blinking red.

  • Damaged fiber cable.
  • Loose connector.
  • Service outage in your area.

The good thing though is that the solutions for this issue are pretty easy to implement if the problem is on your side. However, if your ISP is experiencing some problems or maintaining its network, you can’t do anything else but wait for them to get it fixed.

PLDT Router LOS Blinking Red – Quick Fixes

When you encounter a blinking red LOS light on your PLDT router, it’s a common indicator of a signal issue, but there are several quick fixes you can try, even without prior technical knowledge. This issue, often searched online as “PLDT router LOS light problem,” can sometimes be resolved with basic troubleshooting steps. One of the first things to check is the stability of your optical fiber cable connection, a common query among users experiencing this issue.

In some cases, the solution may be as simple as ensuring that the cable is securely connected to your router and the wall socket. Users frequently search for “fixing loose fiber cables” as a remedy for this problem. If the cable appears damaged or worn out, replacing it might be necessary, though this is a step usually left to professionals, as indicated by searches like “optical fiber cable replacement.”

For those not confident in handling fiber cables, seeking professional assistance is always a safe choice. Remember, while these fixes are often straightforward, ensuring they’re done correctly is crucial for restoring your internet connection.

By following these guidelines, you can effectively address the blinking red LOS issue on your PLDT router. This knowledge is invaluable for maintaining a stable and reliable internet connection in your home or office.

Check The Fiber Optic Cable

When facing a blinking red LOS light on your PLDT router, the initial step is to inspect the fiber optic cable connected to your modem. This is a common suggestion found in online guides and forums addressing internet connectivity issues. Ensure that the cable is properly and securely connected at both ends — a loose connection can often be the root cause of the problem.

Besides the connection, examine the cable for any visible damage or abnormal bending. Fiber optic cables are delicate and can be compromised by kinks or severe bends, a concern frequently noted in searches like “fiber cable damage” or “optical cable bending.” If you notice any physical damage or if the cable appears excessively bent, it may be time to consider purchasing a new one.

Additionally, pay attention to the connectors at each end of the cable. Loose or damaged connectors can disrupt the signal, leading to the LOS light issue. This is a common troubleshooting step often looked up as “checking fiber optic connectors.”

If, after ensuring the cable is properly connected and undamaged, the LOS light continues to blink red, it indicates that the problem might lie elsewhere. In such cases, it’s advisable to proceed to the next solution. This systematic approach to troubleshooting is crucial in pinpointing and resolving the issue with your PLDT router.

To sum up, the first thing to do in this case would be to check:

  • whether the fiber optic cable is properly connected to the modem.
  • whether it is damaged or bent abnormally.
  • whether there are loose or damaged connectors.

Always check each end of the cable and if necessary purchase a new fiber optic cable.

If the LOS light is still blinking red after this inspection, and the eventual cable replacement or re-connection, try the next solution.

Reboot The Router

Rebooting your router is a widely recommended and effective quick fix for various network issues, including the blinking red LOS light on your PLDT router. This simple action is often the first go-to solution in many online troubleshooting guides for home network problems. The process is straightforward and can resolve a range of connectivity issues.

To reboot your router, start by unplugging the power cord from the electrical outlet. It’s advised to wait for about 5 minutes before reconnecting it. This brief waiting period allows the router to reset completely, clearing any temporary glitches or errors. After plugging the router back in, give it some time to boot up fully.

Once the router has restarted, check the status of the LOS light. In many cases, you’ll find that the light has turned off, indicating that the issue has been resolved. However, if the red blinking light persists, it suggests that the problem might be more complex. In such a scenario, moving on to the next troubleshooting step is recommended. Rebooting is a simple yet powerful tool in your home networking toolkit, often resolving issues without needing more complex solutions.

Check Whether Outage Is Causing The Problem

When your PLDT router’s LOS light blinks red, it’s possible that the issue is stemming from an outage or maintenance work by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). ISPs occasionally conduct unscheduled maintenance or encounter power or service issues, leading to a temporary loss of signal. This situation is a common topic in online forums and help guides where users seek to understand the reasons behind network interruptions.

To confirm if an outage is causing the problem, the most direct approach is to contact PLDT support. They can provide immediate information on any ongoing service interruptions or maintenance work. This step is often recommended in searches like “contacting ISP for outage” or “network service status.”

Alternatively, you can check for an outage independently by using websites like Outage.report. These sites track and report service interruptions for various ISPs, including PLDT. This method is a quick way to verify if others are experiencing similar issues, often explored under searches like “ISP outage check” or “PLDT service status.”

If it’s confirmed that an outage is the reason for the blinking red LOS light, patience is key. In such cases, the only solution is to wait until your ISP resolves the issue. While waiting can be inconvenient, knowing the cause can provide peace of mind and save you from attempting unnecessary troubleshooting steps.

On the other hand, if they confirm that everything is fine on their end, ask them to check your line, restart your connection or guide you through some basic troubleshooting steps. If they can’t help you remotely, they can always send a technician to check the problem on site as well as check the PLDT router itself.
