Brief Overview

This article will explain the Cox router login steps using its default router IP, username and password. This guide applies for Arris TG1682, Technicolor CGM4141 and CGM4331.

Before you login to your Cox router

In order to access the Cox router settings successfully we need to do some things first:

1. We need a device like a computer, tablet or a smartphone to connect to the Cox router network. We highly recommend connecting using the network cable but if your device doesn’t support such a connection, you can use the WiFi connection as well. Just pay attention that when saving some changes to the router like changing the network name, the admin or WiFi password, you can get logged out of the router.

2. We need to have the Cox router login details – default IP address, username and password. These can be found in the user’s manual, the sticker on the router or check the next section of this article.

In case you don’t know or can’t find the IP, check this guide on how to find the router’s default IP address.

What are the Cox router login details?

The Cox router IP is: 192.168.0.1

The Cox router username is: admin

The Cox router password is: password

NOTE: Make sure to type the username and password in small letters.

How do I log into my Cox router?

Now when you have everything ready the rest is easy.

STEP 1 – Open a web browser

Take the device you have connected to the network and launch any of the browsers installed on it. The web browser is used as a tool to access the router configuration page. You don’t need an active Internet connection to use it to connect to the router.

STEP 2 – Type 192.168.0.1 into the browser’s URL bar

"COX

The next step is to type the Cox router login IP into the URL bar and press the Enter button or GO on the keyboard. Pay attention not to type it into the Search field or you will get some Google search results regarding that IP.

STEP 3 – Enter the Cox router login details

If the IP is correct, you will be requested to enter the router admin username and password.

Type admin as username and password in the password field. These are case-sensitive so make sure to type them all in lower-case letters.

STEP 4 – Click OK and you are logged into the Cox router admin page

When you click the OK button under the username and password fields you will be redirected to the router admin page.

There you will be offered to change the router admin password which is a good security measure. Practically from the current point of view, anyone who is connected to your network can easily login to your Cox router and make some changes without you knowing about it, and even block you from the network. The best way to prevent this from happening is to change the router admin password.

On the other hand, you can also make all the necessary changes mentioned earlier in this article and much more.

When you change some of the settings, don’t forget to click the Save button. And also, it is highly recommended to make a backup of the current router settings in case something goes wrong. It will be much easier to restore the settings if you have a backup.

How to change the Cox router login password?

When you login to your Cox router the first thing that will be offered for you to do is to change the admin password.

Now all you have to do is to follow the instructions given on the page.

Enter the current password in the Current password field.

Type a new password in the New password field and type the same password again in the Re-enter New Password. This is a good measure to make sure you have entered the new password correctly the first time.

Just to make sure you have entered the password correctly; you can check the Show Typed Password checkbox.

Click the Save button and an alert box will pop up informing you that you have saved the changes successfully.

Now you can repeat the Cox router login steps to make sure you have changed the admin password.

Make sure to keep the new password written somewhere. In case you forget it you will need to reset your Cox router to factory settings and login with the default username and password.
