They will secure your network at a basic level which is generally enough to prevent most intruders from accessing your network without your permission. In fact, it is advised to change the wireless password every few months.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"601\" height=\"289\" class=\"wp-image-8309\" title=\"Change the wireless network name on Comtrend router\" src=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Change-the-wireless-network-name-on-Comtrend-router-1.jpg\" alt=\"Change the wireless network name on Comtrend router\" srcset=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Change-the-wireless-network-name-on-Comtrend-router-1.jpg 601w, https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Change-the-wireless-network-name-on-Comtrend-router-1-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After you login to your Comtrend router, click on <strong>Wireless<\/strong> and then <strong>Basic.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the SSID field you can erase the old, and enter a new SSID or wireless network name.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Click <strong>Apply\/Save<\/strong> to apply and save the new wireless network name.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"change-the-comtrend-wifi-password\">Change The Comtrend WiFi Password<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In order to <a href=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/change-singtel-wi-fi-password\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7261\">change the wireless password<\/a>, you need to select <strong>Wireless<\/strong>, and then click on <strong>Security<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>From the <strong>Select SSID<\/strong> drop-down list select the network name you want to modify.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>From the <strong>Network Authentication<\/strong> drop-down list select <strong>WPA2-PSK<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the <strong>WPA\/WAPI Passphrase<\/strong> field erase the old and enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/change-wi-fi-password-in-windows-10\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7142\">new wireless password<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Click <strong>Apply\/Save<\/strong> to apply and save the new wireless password.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you want to add additional security layers to your network security, you can change the default admin password, enable the firewall, disable WPS and remote management, and so on.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For example, changing the admin password is recommended because it will prevent others from accessing the router settings. Finding the default settings is pretty easy and if someone is already connected to your network, he or she won\u2019t have any problems finding the default login details. As you can see this is a security risk and needs to be fixed as soon as possible.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/disable-wps-on-att-router\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"5580\">Disabling WPS<\/a> or remote management is also recommended. With WPS enabled, anyone can connect to the network without knowing the password if he or she has physical access, i.e. can press the <a href=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/xfinity-router-wps-button\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3291\">WPS button on the router<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You can explore all these additional options, and you can also check the Guest Network settings or <a href=\"https:\/\/routerctrl.com\/bypass-xfinity-parental-controls\/\">Parental Controls<\/a>.
